William Krisel (November 14, 1924 – June 5, 2017) was an American best known for his pioneering designs of mid-century residential and commercial architecture. Most of his designs were for affordable homes, especially tract housing with a modern aesthetic. In the 1950s and 1960s, Krisel helped to nearly double the size of Palm Springs by building 2,500 tract homes that still exist today. Krisel varied orientation and roofline, integrated indoor-outdoor living, and standardized elements to make modernist design affordable. His houses facilitated indoor-outdoor desert living with sheltered patios, pools, breezeways, and clerestory windows to improve air circulation while bringing in light.

Bubble Gum Modern is a William Krisel / Alexander Company home built in 1960.
